What Are Core Updates?

Google has written with an example that what kind of content should be effected by the latest May 2020 updates.
“One way to think of how a core update operates is to imagine you made a list of the top 100 movies in 2015. A few years later in 2019, you refresh the list. It’s going to naturally change. Some new and wonderful movies that never existed before will now be candidates for inclusion. You might also reassess some films and realize they deserved a higher place on the list than they had before.
The list will change, and films previously higher on the list that move down aren’t bad. There are simply more deserving films that are coming before them.” Google Webmaster Blog.
So pages with old and outdated content are going to receive a downfall in search results. Pages with content like “Things to do in January 2019”, or “Top 10 business of 2018” will going to show up on specific search only with a year together. These pages may have ranked well for keywords without a year or month name before. So If I just search for “Top 10 Business”, it will show up some ideas that can be older and other results are from 2020. As they are the latest, It’s similar for “Things to do in January”.

Before releasing updates Google had come up with Search Quality guideline information which was released on Dec 5, 2019. Websites or Webmaster who is thinking they are suffering from the recent Google core updates must check them out.
